The Veteran Privacy Manifesto

📄 Project: VA Benefits Assistant ✅ Status: Open Source & Community Auditable

We know the history of "apps for veterans" — it's often filled with high costs, data-mining, and "claim sharks." We built this app to be the opposite. This manifesto is our public commitment to you.

1. You are not a product.

We do not collect your name, age, Social Security Number, or email. We don't want to know who you are; we just want to help you find the benefits you earned. Our revenue comes from optional subscriptions and ads — never from selling your data.

2. Private AI, Not Public Cloud.

Most AI apps send your sensitive questions to Big Tech servers (OpenAI, Google, etc.). We don't. We host our own Local LLM on our own private, secure hardware.

  • Your data never touches a public AI model's training set.

3. Zero-Knowledge Architecture.

We follow a "Zero-Retention" policy. When you ask the AI a question:

  • It travels through an encrypted tunnel to our private server.
  • It is processed entirely in RAM (System Memory).
  • Once the answer is sent back to you, the data is wiped from memory instantly.
  • We do not log your prompts. We do not keep a history. If our server were seized tomorrow, there would be no record of your questions.

4. Open Source = Open Audit.

Don't take our word for it. We've put our code on GitHub so the community can verify every claim:

  • Reproducible Builds: We provide the tools for you to verify that the app on the Play Store is the exact same code you see here.

5. Supplemental, Not Official.

We are not the VA, and we are not a VSO. We are a navigation tool. We promise to always be clear about our limitations and to always encourage you to work with an accredited VSO for your official filings.
